The NEW 9180 range should be selected for all new applications. Its unique N+1 redundancy approach provides flexibility to the system designer meeting the initial demands of the project with 2 power supply modules/segment, whilst having the ability to add a third power supply later to meet expansion requirements. The advantage to the operator is typically a 25% saving in initial capital cost compared to a conventional, 1+1 redundant architecture. High system availability is achieved with the use of passive components for power conditioning, galvanic isolation and power regulation delivering redundant fieldbus power at up to 28V, 500mA/segment. The product range also includes power supply modules that can be used to provide power for segments with Ex ic spurs, to be used in conjunction with MTL F300 range of Megablock device couplers and F30 Ex ic adaptor.
The 9188 fieldbus power system is designed to provide redundant power for eight, or four, Foundation™ fieldbus H1 segments on the Yokogawa CENTUM CS3000. It is optimised for use in general purpose and hazardous area High Energy Trunk architectures which, with the appropriate FieldPlus wiring components, supports fieldbus devices using all hazardous area protection techniques.
The power supply has been designed to optimise cabinet layouts, maximising the number of fieldbus segments powered per cabinet while providing space for installing and maintaining cableconnections and minimising the operating temperature.
The design of the 9188 has made the installation of effective surge protection on fieldbus trunk a simple matter, through the
use of individual FS32 modules. A grounding bar is available, that is attached to the power supply carrier to provide both
mechanical support for the FS32 modules as well as a way of connecting them to a local low impedance ground point to
