Pepperl+Fuchs KFD2-SOT2-Ex1.LB is a one-channel isolated switch amplifier for intrinsically safe sensor or contact circuits. It transfers a field switching signal to the safe-area control system while providing two passive electronic outputs and line-fault monitoring for maintenance visibility.

Signal Path in One View

A NAMUR proximity sensor or suitable mechanical contact is wired to the intrinsically safe input of KFD2-SOT2-Ex1.LB. The module evaluates the input state, isolates the hazardous-area circuit from the safe-area side, and reproduces the status through electronic outputs. Output I is used as the primary signal output. Output II can be assigned either as a second signal output or as a fault indication, depending on the selected front-switch configuration.

This arrangement is valuable when a PLC or DCS needs a clean switching signal and the maintenance team also wants a separate indication for a broken lead or short circuit. The passive, non-polarized electronic outputs should be reviewed together with the receiving input card rather than treated like relay contacts.
