Dual-Output Pepperl+Fuchs KFD2-STC5-Ex1.2O SMART Transmitter Power Supply for HART, BRAIN, and Foxboro Systems
Dual-Output Pepperl+Fuchs KFD2-STC5-Ex1.2O SMART Transmitter Power Supply for HART, BRAIN, and Foxboro Signal Distribution
When one hazardous-area transmitter signal must reach two independent receiving systems, Pepperl+Fuchs KFD2-STC5-Ex1.2O provides a focused cabinet solution. This one-channel isolated barrier powers a compatible 2-wire or 3-wire SMART transmitter, accepts a 2-wire SMART current source, and reproduces the measured 4-20 mA signal at two isolated outputs. The arrangement is useful when a single field measurement must be shared between a control system and a second destination such as a safety system, recorder, remote indicator, or monitoring package.

One Field Signal, Two Independent Outputs
KFD2-STC5-Ex1.2O combines transmitter supply, galvanic isolation, and signal duplication in one module. Each output carries the process-current information while remaining electrically separated from the other circuits. Source and sink operating modes broaden compatibility with different control-system input arrangements. For modernization work, this can reduce the need for an additional signal splitter, but engineers should still confirm the input resistance, output mode, load, and grounding concept of both receiving channels.
Digital Communication Without Breaking the Loop
The analogue signal path supports bidirectional SMART communication for HART, BRAIN, and Foxboro-compatible devices. Integrated communicator test sockets and the internal communication resistor provide convenient access during commissioning and maintenance. A technician can review transmitter variables, identification data, or diagnostics while the 4-20 mA measurement remains connected. Protocol availability, communicator connection, and the final loop impedance should nevertheless be checked against the field instrument and host-system documentation.
Cabinet and Loop Review
Before specifying Pepperl+Fuchs KFD2-STC5-Ex1.2O, review the following items:
Field-device wiring: 2-wire transmitter, 3-wire transmitter, or 2-wire current source.
Required output behavior for both receiving systems: source or sink.
HART, BRAIN, or Foxboro communication requirements and loop impedance.
24 V DC supply arrangement and use of the Pepperl+Fuchs Power Rail.
Hazardous-area classification, entity parameters, and applicable certificate conditions.
Functional-safety requirements and the current safety manual for the project.
Where This Module Is Commonly Considered
Typical requests involve pressure, flow, level, temperature, and analytical transmitters installed in oil and gas plants, refineries, chemical facilities, power stations, water-treatment systems, offshore platforms, and other process sites. The two-output architecture is particularly useful where operations and safety teams need the same measurement on separate systems, or where a recorder must receive an isolated copy of a control-loop signal. It can also be selected for planned cabinet standardization when smart-instrument access is required at the marshalling level.
Ordering and Supply Support
For an accurate quotation, send the full model number KFD2-STC5-Ex1.2O, quantity, destination, target delivery date, and whether the request is for new construction, planned spares, or urgent replacement. If the module will replace an installed barrier, include a label photograph and the part numbers of both connected receiving cards. Sunup-MTL supports international sourcing, model checking, competitive quotation, export documentation, and shipment coordination for Pepperl+Fuchs automation components.
